Meet Eldon. While receiving treatment at St. Vincent Home, Eldon built healthy relationships and was looked upon as a role model by his peers. He excelled in education, earning his GED and multiple academic awards including Student of the Month at Michael J. McGivney, the on-grounds high school. Eldon is exploring college and career opportunities in Culinary Arts. Eldon understands the need to work hard in order to reach his goals and has a bright future ahead of him. Meet Cammie. After successfully completing the program at Swan Valley, Cammie is residing in Supervised Independent Living and plans to attend Delta College in the fall. Cammie’s goal is to become an elementary school teacher. She spends much of her free time volunteering for her church youth group. Cammie is employed at the St. Vincent building where she performs housekeeping duties. She is an outstanding young lady who has much to offer her community. Meet Tyreas. Tyreas was referred to Boysville Clinton Campus in 1997 for behavioral problems. During his 18-month stay he learned to apply coping skills that allowed him to make better decisions and become a better person. Tyreas joined the US Navy in 2001 after 9/11. Now married and a father, Tyreas is stationed on the U.S.S. Cleveland as a firefighter. He credits HCCS for his success. “Boysville has made a great impact on my life. Without it, I think I would be dead or in jail.” Meet Charlie. While residing at Kennedy House in Detroit, Charlie received the treatment he needed to get his life back on track. He earned his GED, worked towards repairing relationships with his family and prepared for his future. He plans to attend trade school this fall to learn how to repair computers. Charlie dreams of owning his own car and home in the near future. “I’ve got my head on tight. I am ready for the world.” Meet David. At Swan Valley, David has grown into a very responsible mentor and leader, helping his peers work through obstacles they face. He has excelled in education and track, earning many adwards and honor roll status. He is currently enrolled at Malcolm Community College and hopes to tranfer to the University of Michigan and earn a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting. David’s accomplishments are due to his passion and devotion to working hard to achive his goals. Meet Virginia. Virginia first resided at St. Vincent Home and is currently in the Supervised Independent Living. Virginia’s love for animals has led her to attend Delta College. She plans to complete basic courses and transfer to Baker College to study as a veterinary technician. Virginia has volunteered and worked at the local pet store where she cared for the animals. She also volunteered at Covenant Hospital. Virginia is a caring young lady who has overcome a great deal of adversity. Meet Jarod. While a resident of Queen of Angels, Jarod graduated from Bridgeport High School. His interests include listening to music, song writing and playing the guitar. Family and friends are very important to Jarod and he works hard at being a positive role model for others. Jarod would like to pursue an education in Telecommunications and plans on working towards a career in the radio broadcasting industry. Meet Brenda. Brenda is graduating with her GED from Michael J. McGivney, an on-grounds school located at St Vincent’s Home in Saginaw, Michigan. Brenda has successfully completed the GED program and is working towards completing a transition program to help her develop life skills necessary to successfully re-enter her community. She plans to go to college and become a social worker or a cosmetologist. Meet Dona. Dona is graduating with her GED from Michael J. McGivney, an on-grounds school, located at St Vincent Home in Saginaw, Michigan. Dona has successfully completed the GED program and is working towards completing a transition program to help her develop life skills necessary to re-enter her community. Dona plans to pursue a career in carpentry. Meet Misti. While faced with many obstacles throughout her life, Misti graduated from Mackinaw Academy with above average grades while living at St. Vincent Villa Supervised Independent Living. She is enrolled at Delta College as a full-time student and will begin classes this fall. Misti’s goal is to graduate from college and pursuing a career that will allow her to help others. Meet Jason. While living in Saginaw Supervised Independent Living, Jason graduated from Central High School in Bay City, Michigan. He enjoys hunting, fishing, bowling, football and computers. Jason is enrolled in classes at Delta College as a full-time student and will begin classes this fall. Jason’s goal is to become a veterinarian. He volunteers at Bay Animal Hospital to gain experience toward his educational goal. Jason is employed at McDonald’s and is an avid participant in the Jim Casey Program. Through this program, Jason has made several presentations on behalf of foster care children. He participates in the program’s volunteer activities including adopt-a-family at Christmas and recreational activities for foster families. He is most proud of his role in building the Kids Zone, a program where children new to the foster care system can get duffle bags, new outfits and shoes. Meet Joshua. Joshua, a resident of Queen of Angels, is an honor student at Bridgeport High School. Eager to help anyone he can, Joshua offers a listening ear to his peers when in need of advice. Joshua has a true passion for computers and nature. His hobbies include robotics, HTML programming and gaming. He plans to attend Michigan Career and Technical Institute upon graduation and pursue a career as a computer specialist. Joshua has been influenced most by his grandmother. Meet Jacob. While residing at Queen of Angels, Jacob has shown major growth personally, educationally and socially. Jacob is a highly intelligent young man as evidenced by the strong academic marks he has achieved while attending Bridgeport High School. Jacob has received a scholarship to attend college this fall at Western Michigan University. He plans to study business along with Chinese.
